Rattlesnake Ledge

Rattlesnake Ledge, Nothbend, WA
April 12th, 2012

This was Molly and I's first hike of the season.

Woke up this morning expecting rain and was so happy to see when I looked out my window that there was blue sky to great the day.  So I quickly got our gear together and loaded the car up and headed off to the mountains for a little hike up to Rattlesnake Ledge.

I knew it was going to be a good one as the weather at this time of the year never stays the same so we brought with us everything from hot to cold and dry to wet just in case we needed it.

We started at Rattlesnake lake on the east end heading up the trail.  It is in great shape no mud to deal with but no water for Molly either.  One of the nice things about this hike is that the trail is not to step and it is close to Seattle so it is easy to get to.  The only problem with that is that every one else knows that to so this trail can be a bit busy.

We saw lots of other dogs on the trail most on leash and all well behaved.  Molly had a great time but her age is starting to show as she didn't show the pep she normally does by leading at the end of her leash.  But she didn't lag behind either.

It only took us about an hour to traverse the couple of switch backs and the two miles to the ledge. Upon getting there I could see the storm  coming in from the south so we made quick work of our lunch and then headed down.

We only got a little ways before we lost the sun and it started to hail.  So out came the rain gear witch I am grateful for as it hailed and rained all the way back to the car.  We saw several people on the way up not in the least bit discouraged by the wet weather.

Got to just love it here. No matter the conditions it is so incredibly beautiful.
